February First!

Tuesday, February 1, 2011

Hi all!

Though the weather may not be showing it, I'm crossing my fingers that February is going to be a great month! All through January I was a busy-bee, auditioning at every opportunity, sending out new mailers, and trying to get my face out there in the world. I think I logged 22 auditions and 4 callbacks--not half bad for my first month out! Hopefully February can only bring more great audition experiences, callback opportunities, and perhaps even job offers!!

Now I'm off to bundle into my warm bed and try to pretend this sleet/snow/rain/hail we're enjoying will be away soon.

Cheers,
Rebecca

Happy New Year!

Saturday, January 1, 2011

Happy 2011 everyone!!
I'm thrilled to be starting this New Year, and I'm knocking down my to-dos right and left, woohoo!

This January I'm focusing on my acting career: heading to a ton of auditions, sending out new rounds of mailers, going back to dance and yoga classes, and trying to get my name out into the world. In 2011, I'd love to work on more student and short films and put a reel together, work at a regional theatre or two, and (why not shoot for the stars?) book that Broadway show. :)

"Billy and the Boob," the independent short I worked on this summer with Phillip Neumann is finally up! The film is clever, a little strange, and very funny, and I'm quite proud to have been a part of the team. Check it out here.

Wishing you and yours a happy, healthy 2011!
Rebecca

Thanksgiving greetings from St. Louis!

HAPPY THANKSGIVING, EVERYONE!!

This year, I have about 10 million things to be grateful for. Beyond what should go unsaid (family, friends, health) I am so thankful to have a job, equity status, and the opportunity to bring the joy of theater to children all over the USA! Although I am sad to have spent my first thanksgiving away from my loved ones, the cast had an amazing Thanksgiving meal at RED at the Hyatt in downtown St. Louis, where we've been stationed for an incredible 10 day stay!! It even SNOWED, the perfect first snowfall of the season. :)
Since I last wrote, we've seen some of the most exciting places on tour and some of the smallest, quietest towns I've ever visited! With every new place we see, every new hotel we check into, I only become more and more eager to return to New York.
Thankfully (there's that word again!!), our schedule permits us to spend many of our nights in December at home in NYC. I even get to spend my birthday (December 9th) at home with my best friends!! And in a mere 3 weeks from tomorrow, our tour will be finished and I will be back in the city for good to start pounding the pavement again! As scary as it is to be heading back without specific plans, I am trusting the universe that something will turn out, and am excited to be exploring all the new opportunities that come my way.
Plus, this is my absolute favorite time of the year, and Christmas is coming!! I hope everyone is feeling the spirit of the season they way I am.
Here's the schedule for the last leg of the tour; I hope to see many familiar faces along the way, particularly at our shows at Paper Mill Playhouse in NJ and at Kraushaar Auditiorium in Baltimore, MD, my home town!!
Dec 3- 10am show, Millburn, NJ (Paper Mill Playhouse)
Dec 4- 10am show, Millburn, NJ (Paper Mill Playhouse)
Dec 5-2pm show, Bethlehem, PA
Dec 6-10am show, 12pm show, Dover, DE
Dec 7-10am show, 12:30pm show, Somerville, NJ
Dec 8-10:30am show, 12:30pm show, Baltimore, MD
Dec 9-10am show, Harrisburg, PA
Dec 10-9:30am show, Cedar Grove, NJ
Dec 13-10am show, Buffalo, NY
Dec 14-10am show, Binghamton, NY
Dec 16-10am show, Utica, NY

Hope everyone's holiday was wonderful, and enjoy the bliss of the season!!

Tour greetings from sweet Alabama!

Wow, almost a full month on tour!

We have been so, so busy but I have really enjoyed this experience so far!

After spending about 3 weeks in the glorious sunshine of Florida, I was sooo ready to be back to fall weather and changing leaves! We've now been through North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, and Alabama, and by the end of this week we'll be in New Orleans, Louisiana!

It's amazing to see so many places and people I've never encountered before, but I certainly get homesick for New York a lot. I miss walking everywhere! And the comfort of my friends of course. But I'll be home in a month and a half and I'm excited to get back to pounding the pavement. Lots of work to do!

Here's the itinerary I have for the next leg of our tour. I'm still waiting on the last bit of it, where I'll find out about any breaks in the city and the time we'll be spending in Baltimore, MD, my home town!

If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!

Monday, September 20, 2010

It's been over a month since I last updated! Phew!

Abraham's Daughters had a great run at the SoHo Playhouse and now I'm onto my next big project (and my first Equity contract!): If You Give a Mouse a Cookie!

We started rehearsals today at Chelsea Studios and I met the 5 incredibly talented cast members I'll be touring the Southwest/Southeast/Northeast with these next 2.5 months. I also had the chance to see director Kevin DelAguila again, the first time since auditions! Today we started learning music and I can tell already it's going to be a really wonderful show.

And I was thrilled to run into some old friends from NYU rehearsing at Chelsea Studios for the national tour of A Chorus Line as well as The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, another TheatreworksUSA production. It feels so great to be able to enjoy the successes of my friends, too!

I'm so grateful to be a part of this and can't wait to see how the rest of the process unfolds.

I'll post as soon as I know my itinerary for the tour (hope to see familiar faces along the road!). And of course, I'm always hoping to make a lot of new friends from this journey!

Cheers,
Rebecca

Lessons and Carols! More reviews!

Photos by Chris Montgomery from Lessons and Carols featuring Marianne Matthews, Ali Skye Bennett, and myself!

So, Lessons and Carols opened this past weekend! We only have one more show to go, and then I will officially be doing ONE production. Phew! Focus. :)
We've gotten more great feedback on Broadway Rising Stars. Here's a review posted in the Huffington Post by David Finkle, the Broadwayworld.com blog review, and a CurtainUp review by Elizabeth Ahlfors. I'm so pleased to see such a positive reaction to our work!

And word on the street is that you can find YouTube performances of "Good Morning Baltimore" and "It's Today/All I Need is One Good Break." But you didn't hear it from me!

All the best,
Rebecca
